Today is the 1st of June. This day twenty five years ago she was swept in a dance wearing a gorgeous white dress and her thin veil flew up like wings of a big white bird. Anatoly’s strong arms held her confidently leading across the floor. Outside the open windows the lilacs were blooming with vigor. On the long tables sat huge bouquets of intoxicating white hackberry flowers. The amplifier sounded to the whole world a popular secular wedding song.

Elvira was happy as never before. Only her father’s lowered head and tears in her mother’s eyes slightly dimmed her joy.

But now 25 long years have gone by. Today Anatoliy and she were supposed to celebrate their anniversary, but instead… a funeral…
